Cancellation of Matches

Following the late cancellation of two cup matches earlier in the season an explanation has been recieved from both teams and on this occasion accepted. They have been advised regarding their future conduct. As a result I felt it prudent to post a reminder to all teams of the expectations when cancelling matches.
Section e. Re‑arranged Team Games or a team failure to field a team states:
• i. Matches may not be cancelled except in special circumstances.
• ii. Teams must notify both the League and the opposition as soon as they are aware a match may need to be cancelled or rearranged, and no later than 45 minutes before the scheduled start.
• iii. A team may only rearrange one fixture per season unless further rearrangements are sanctioned by the committee.
• iv. The committee may permit rearrangements in exceptional cases (e.g., venue closures, special occasions). Captains must inform the League of known changes as early as possible.
Note: The 45‑minute rule exists solely for genuine emergencies such as flooding, fire, venue closures, or other exceptional circumstances. It is not intended to be used as a routine fallback or a last‑minute communication window. Historically, teams were expected to give at least 24 hours’ notice wherever possible, and that expectation remains in place.
