To the Committee and My Pool Family at the Preston and District Pool League
It is with deep emotion and a heavy heart that I write to formally resign from my
position on the committee.
Over recent weeks, I’ve been navigating a serious health crisis that culminated in a
hospital admission with a critically low blood oxygen levels. It was a stark
reminder of just how much I’ve been carrying—a wake-up call that I’ve been
stretching myself too far for too long. I can no longer ignore the toll this has taken. To
continue caring for my family and those who rely on me, I must now prioritise my
own wellbeing.
Doctors agree that, given the risks to my health, being in venues
where vaping is permitted may no longer be safe for me. This is not a criticism, but a
reality I can no longer afford to overlook.
My focus has been on my mum and whose survival has
depended on the family being present—physically, emotionally, and practically. I’ve
been working tirelessly with my siblings to ensure she has the best chance at
recovery with dignity from her recent bout of illness.
Alongside this, I’ve continued to serve the wider community,
offering support wherever I could—guided by my medical knowledge and Christian
values of compassion, service, and love.
Stepping away from the league is not easy. The friendships I’ve made, the people
I’ve met, the teams, the players, the licensees – most have treated me like family.
And I’ve felt that deeply. I genuinely care about each of you and about the league
itself. That’s what makes this decision so painful. But I know I cannot carry on like
this. I need to let go.
Having spoken with Hadrian Alty I have agreed that betwwen now and the AGM that I will assist where I can and into the future but need to allow others to take over.
Thank you for the trust, the camaraderie, and the many moments we’ve shared. I’ll
continue cheering you on from the sidelines, and I hope one day, when the time is
right, I might return —if life allows and the path feels right.
With heartfelt thanks,
respect, and love,
Neil
